Transformation of over 2,000m² of virgin land into a complete agritourism space, integrating rest areas, dining facilities and water features to complement animal activities and enhance the family visitor experience.
The farm had been offering children's activities and guided tours with ostriches, deer, horses and sheep for years, but beyond the animal enclosures, the terrain remained practically virgin. Families visiting the premises had no adequate areas to rest, eat or simply enjoy the surroundings while children played.
The owner needed to transform this raw space into a complete agritourism destination that would invite families to spend the entire day. This meant creating dining infrastructure, quality green areas, visual interest elements and coherent circulation between different areas, all while respecting the rural character of the environment and coexistence with animals.
The terrain presented significant elevation changes that needed to be resolved to ensure accessibility, plus requiring an irrigation system capable of maintaining large lawn areas in the Mediterranean climate without escalating water costs.
We designed a comprehensive project that transformed the terrain into a multifunctional space where each element has a clear purpose within the visitor experience.
The heart of the project is a large pergola with Arab tile roofing that houses the bar and dining area. The treated wood structure integrates naturally with the rural landscape while providing shade and protection for dozens of diners. The wooden bar and access to services complete a facility designed for intensive use during weekends and events.
To resolve the main terrain elevation, we built a monumental staircase with volcanic stone tiles connecting the parking area with the central zone. The sides were planted with bamboo adding verticality and movement, creating a scenic entrance that prepares visitors for the experience.
The pond with natural stone waterfall became a focal point where children can observe fish while parents rest in surrounding lawn areas. The waterfall system is not just decorative: it forms part of a closed circuit where drainage water from the entire premises is reused to feed the ponds, minimizing water consumption.
The wide lawn meadows were designed as multipurpose spaces where children can run freely and families can spread their picnic blankets. Automated irrigation ensures impeccable green throughout the year without manual intervention.
The planting combines low-maintenance Mediterranean species with higher visual impact elements: magnolias providing shade and spectacular flowers, masses of agapanthus blooming in summer, bergenia as evergreen groundcover, and creeping junipers stabilizing slopes while adding texture.
